Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

General & Mobile Services

What is a mobile pet care visit, and how does it work?

Instead of loading your pet into the car and sitting in a noisy waiting room, I bring gentle, professional care directly to your home. Appointments are conducted right inside your house or in your yard with my customized mobile setup, minimizing stress for both you and your pet.

What geographic areas do you serve?

I proudly serve Pike County, PA (including Matamoras, Milford, and Dingmans Ferry) as well as nearby communities in the tri-state area. I offer long distance travel for an additional fee.

How do I schedule an appointment and check pricing?

You can view transparent service rates and travel fees directly on my website. Simply submit an appointment request via email, text, or call me, and I will reach out to confirm availability and discuss your pet's specific needs.

Therapies & Special Care

What is Red Light / Cold Laser Therapy (Photobiomodulation)?

Red light therapy (also known as cold laser or photobiomodulation) is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. It is gentle, warm, and highly effective for joint support, arthritis, post-surgical recovery, and chronic mobility issues.

How many red light therapy sessions will my pet need?

While some pets show improved comfort after just a few sessions, chronic conditions like arthritis typically benefit from a structured package, often starting with frequent sessions (e.g., 1-2x weekly) to build progress, followed by regular maintenance visits.

Can you accommodate pets with special medical or mobility conditions?

Absolutely. Whether your pet has neurological conditions like Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), severe arthritis, or unique handling restrictions, every session is customized to their physical capabilities and comfort level.

Nail Trims & Low-Stress Handling

How do you help anxious or senior dogs with nail trims?

I specialize in low-stress, Fear Free handling techniques. For senior or anxious dogs, I utilize a specialized suspension lift combined with positive reinforcement, food bribery, and Dremel rotary tools. The lift keeps pets safely supported without pressure on sensitive joints, allowing for precise, low-stress nail shortening. For small dogs and cats, I often towel wrap and gently trim their nails in my lap.

What is a Dremel nail trim, and why is it better for overgrown quicks?

Unlike traditional clippers that squeeze and pinch the nail, a Dremel files the nail down smoothly. Regular Dremel sessions safely encourage long inner quicks to recede over time, resulting in shorter, rounded nails that won't snag or alter your pet's gait.

Veterinary & Care Distinctions

How is a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) different from a veterinaria

A Certified Veterinary Technician is a credentialed animal healthcare professional, similar to a Registered Nurse in human medicine. While veterinarians diagnose conditions, perform surgery, and prescribe medications, I perform medical treatments, nursing care, and physical therapies under veterinary direction. I do not diagnose illnesses or prescribe drugs.

How are your services different from a pet groomer?

I focus on mobile nursing care, technical hygiene, and physical therapies, not aesthetic grooming. I do not offer baths, haircuts, or shave-downs. Instead, I provide targeted functional nail trims (using Dremel tools and specialized suspension lifts for anxious or large dogs) and medical treatments like red light therapy.

Sedation & Stress Management

Can you cut my dog's nails if they usually require sedatives at the vet?

Yes, in many cases! My companion lift provides the security and support needed to keep dogs calm and steady. While you are welcome to use veterinarian-prescribed oral sedatives if your dog needs them, I am always willing to attempt a nail trim without medication first. Please note that I also have basket muzzles available to ensure safety for everyone when appropriate.

My cat gets very "spicy" or nervous during nail trims. Can you handle them?

Absolutely. Many owners believe their feisty or anxious cats can't handle routine nail trims, but a gentle, patient approach makes all the difference. I use soft towel wraps ("cat burritos") and flexible, low-stress restraint techniques to keep nervous or spicy cats safe and comfortable throughout the process.

What happens if my pet is too stressed to finish the trim?

Your pet's physical and emotional well-being always comes first. If a pet displays extreme stress or fear, I will stop the session rather than force the trim. In these rare cases, you will only be charged a basic home visit fee to cover travel.

From there, we can discuss partnering with your vet for pre-visit oral sedatives. In the vast majority of cases, combining oral sedatives with the security and stability of the lift allows us to safely and calmly complete the trim on our next attempt.

Disclaimer: I cannot diagnose, prescribe medication, or initiate surgical procedures. I also do not give baths, full grooms, or shave downs.
